Shape: Rectangle
Assembly: Flat wove in two panels on a narrow nomadic loom and then joined together.
Technique: Plain weave, accompanied by slit-weave.
Weft: Wool
Warp: Undyed ivory wool plaited at both ends with 5" twisted, knotted ivory wool at both ends.
Brocade: Many motifs outlined in supplemental weft brocading to enhance the design and add stregth to the constructiuon.
Design: Hexagonal element: 2 columns of 11 bound together by a single column of diamond shaped concentric latch hook medallions.
Dye: Vegetal with some chemical

Notes

The unstable chemical and weak dyes prevent this rug from being a collectible item. Decorator appeal is high because of the strong classic design, weaving and wool quality and large size.


Very complex and finely woven, probably for use as a divan cover.
