Most Shang Dynasty Jades are of animals and birds;zoomorphic or otherwise.This is of a weathered worn recumbent cow. Note the following:

01.This recumbent pose of the cow is found in every Dynasty right up to the Qing.

02. Unusual in the Jade Cow is the shape of the horns,especially the tips.

03.Suprisingly there are two holes at two different locations;first,one from back to belly and the second is the bent front legs of the cow.

All in all,a good reference Jade Cow from the Shang Dynasty.
