This is a used unit, the volume on VCR side is not good.It has a small crack on the body, but that is only cosmetic.
have extensive experience with my four DMR-ES35V models. I record directly from cable and have copied to DVD 5,200 titles (mostly pre-1950 material) from my home-recorded videotapes. Of particular importance are the Time Limited Copying and Flexible Copying features. Flexible Recording fills or fits a recording of specific length to a blank or partially filled DVD for best quality. These features are available when copying, or for direct or scheduled recordings of a specific duration. Time Limited Copying and Flexible Copying may be accessed through the Functions menu. This yields seamless recordings. Front panel controls for copying does not allow for copying options and results in a recording that stops and starts at VHS index marks or other locations deemed to be program breaks. (Time Limited and Flexible Copying features are no longer found on current Panasonic combo recorders, a serious omission.) With good source material I use LP (four hours per DVD) that yields 500 lines of resolution. Of course XP and SP yield even better quality. EP (set for six hours per DVD) is satisfactory for most black and white material. I use DVD-R name brand media, usually TDK, Maxell, or Verbatim. I do not use any type of RW media. I no longer use Memorex brand media. The DMR-ES35V is a complex product with many features. It is necessary to study and follow the Operating Instructions. My DMR-ES35V models do everything I expect of them and have been very reliable. I also have two DMR-ES30V models, also outstanding products. One of these had a DVD drive failure after eleven months' use. Panasonic replaced the drive under warranty and paid for shipping to and from their Illinois Service Center.
