Jessie Levon - a wonderful Outsider Artist.
The clothing patterns that Jessie uses in her art come from the original feedsack patterns that her grandmother used to make her ten children's clothing.
Each one of Jessie's paintings tells a story of her childhood from the snake tree and bottle tree, summer canning, her Uncle's making moonshine, the family working in the fields, bathing in the #3 washtub, to making lye soap.
There are many more stories that are told in her paintings. "My art is a way of finding my way back home after a 10-1/2 hour brain surgery and in a coma for nearly six weeks." Jessie has had to relearn all her skills such as reading, writing and just about almost everything else.
