Antique Instrument WET & DRY HYGROMETER by A.P. GREENFIELD Brisbane - humidity

Hi Ebayers! I’m pleased to offer this wonderful old wet and dry Hygrometer. This instrument is for measuring the humidity, or water vapour content of the air.  It  consists of two vertical thermometers, with one of the bulbs covered in absorbent cloth is place around. As the water evaporates, the bulb cools, producing a temperature difference between the two thermometers. The amount of evaporation, and hence cooling of the wet bulb, depends on the relative humidity of the air.

It has a plaque on the back which reads A.B. GREENFIELD & Co Ltd Brisbane. It can be hung or will stand on its base. It appears to be made of brass but has not been polished. Some collectors prefer the aged look while others prefer to do their own polishing. Without the loop it stands 22 cm or nearly 9 inches and weighs 560g unpacked. It is in good condition and dates from the 1900s. I have a money back return policy if not satisfied so bid with confidence!
