Notes

Zoomorphic is the norm,in the Shang and Zhou than actual realistic animal. This is a cute small zoomorphic doe with a little horn. Please note the following:

01. The artefact is Jade, making it difficult to carve and fake so aesthetically.

02. The spiral geometric design dates it to the Late Shang or Early Zhou.

03.  The Deer is beautifully carved capturing the cuteness of this young Doe and note how the mouth is carved with a thin jutting "flap ".

04. There is no hole made for attachment.

An exquisite animal artefact from the ancients.Always seems to remind me of Disney characters especially the Young Bambi! Visit the Friends of Jade website to know about Jade.
