Since mentioned about gold/gilded Tang Dynasty antiques on profile by iTaggit....thought will post this cute little Gold Stemcup from the Tang Dynasty.Note the following:
01.Whenever stated Gold is usually not pure gold but an alloy.This stemcup will be about 6 - 8 Carat Gold alloyed with silver and copper.
02.Have probably 5 types of Cups,but chose this as like the cartoonish bird design chased on the cup.
03.Another difficult design is the background fish roe or miniature punched circles chased throughout....very time consuming and techniquely very difficult.
04.Lastly the cup is not casted but is hammered out and the lower stem soldered on.
