Notes

In Dynastic China - from Xia 1800 BC - Qing 1910AD.The Han and the Warring States are considered a Golden Age of Jade. After which the next Peak is the Ming/Qing.

This Double Sided same image Dancing Lady is from the Han and is rare. Note the following:

01.The Same Image is sculpted front and back. This technique was already in use in the Shang (~1500 BC),though with a slight variation. Male one side, Female the other.

02.The typical flowing sleeves of one above the head posture dates it, to the Han rather than Warring States.

03.The Jade(Nephrite) Dancer is not completely flat but is convexed to give a fuller more realistic  body, face and limbs.

04.Again note the unusual Hairstyle, where it is pulled to form a side pony-tail. Very sophisticated.Ladies your comments.

Have a Dancing Lady already in Collection but attributed to the Ming. Which is Classier?
