Notes

Jade (Nephrite) is an enduring and one of the oldest material used in Chinese Culture ~ 8000 years. So,in extant Antique Jade, much more of Chinese Culture can be rediscovered. Take this Jade(Nephrite) Lady of the Han Dynasty as an example:

01.The dress style is revealed with the shape and design pattern.

02.The svelte/slim figure may implied that, that  was the ideal shape for the female gender then, instead of the chubby voluptuous female in Tang Dynasty Tri-colour stoneware.

03.What flabbergasted me was the hairdo, especially the backview, where three coils of hair are styled in an Omega fashion, now revealed in timeless Jade(Nephrite) the Stone of Heaven to the Chinese.

04.Many more cultural conclusions can be drawn,eg.that the flute was already in existence, etc.

Note that Jade(Nephrite) is so hard that a stainless steel knife cannot even scratch it and this Jade Lady with Flute is so elegantly sculpted. An Antique Jade that gives both Cultural and Artistic satisfaction!
