Notes
This is a classic Hongshan (~5000 years old)Jade Owl.The Jade(Nephrite) is green and translucent and also is of local source. The Owl is confidently carved with true raised lines forming the wings and a ox bow shaped hole at the back for attachment. At front is the pair of claws. The Owl is thicker at the head and gradually thin out to the tail section. Also most Hongshan Jades are not found as tomb burials, but in the deserts and swampy flat lands designated as forming the Hongshan Culture.
