Appraiser Comments: This is a highly nostalgic book that currently commands an extraordinary value. Hard to say what it's future value may be. The Gremlins is an American icon with a devoted following. The eponymous 1984 movie contributed to the interest in the book.

The book is not all that scarce but dealers typically ask $700 for one with significant damage. Very fine examples that are first pressings of the first edition usually have asking prices in the $3,000 to $12,000 range.

However, copies trickle through outlets like eBay where an average condidtion example like the one at hand typically sells for $200 or even less.

I recommend insuring it for at least $1,200, more if it doesn't raise your premium.

I used to read this book as a child. It was always in my memory. One day, I saw that they were re-publishing this, and I just had to find the original again. Luckily, it was still on the shelf at my Grandparents' house.

Roald Dahl was always my favorite author as a child, although I never had the opportunity to read this book.
