  • Girl & Lamb

BOUGHT THIS AT A FLEA  MARKET..MARKED ON BOTTOM ...ORIGINAL ARNART CREATION...JAPAN  ARNART 5TH AVE WITH CROWN STAMP MARKED 55/1582.
  • Douglas MacArthur

I discovered a small hand made ceramic Cream Pitcher approx., 2 in tall & 3 inches around.  The color is cream the trim is Gold.  The American Eagle with the American Flag on its *** & wheat in its talons is painted on the front of the pitcher.  The top edge of the pitcher is decorated with 3 stars.

One side of the pitcher is inscribed (hand written) Douglas MacArthur. The other side has 2 Palm trees bending over the word BATAAN 1942.  The bottom of the pitcher is inscribed CUMBOW.

I know very little about antiques or collectibles but could not resist buying this.  Could anyone tell me anything regarding this piece and its value.

    Thank you   clearwaterbeach11@verizon.net

  • Kim Westad : Gorgeous Ceramics

I recently saw the work of Ceramicist Kim Westad in another blog.  I have been to many many art shows and always been a little disappointed by the ceramic art.  It was well made and all, but just not "my style."  I was blown away by Westad's work.

Pod Vase in Lemon Small Twirly Vase
Her art is beautiful, organic, simple and affordable.  The high quality photos and unique shapes she creates would make you think her work is super expensive.  I was happily surprised when I visited her Esty Shop.

Westad's work is sure to become a collector's item.  I could see myself collecting many pieces over the years and waiting with baited breath for her new work.  There are lots of cheap vases and decorative out there in the big box world - these pieces are still affordable enough for most people, and are way beyond the big box offerings in terms of style, design and lasting appeal.
