The Jade is that of a humanoid diety guardian of the royalty palace. It is wearing a turban and loincloth.The facial design placed it in the Shang Dynasty(3000 years ago).The Jade(Nephrite)is opaque white. The interesting feature is that the grooves in the turban and loincloth still show old tools marks under a 10X loupe.

 

From recent research,the above fiqure is stated as from the Longshan Culture.It is very difficult to attribute any Jade to the Longshan Culture but the fiqure mentioned is exhibited in the Shanghai Museum and is considered as a sacred fiqure of the Longshan Culture. I attribute mine to the Shang because of the Jade material,technique and design. Anyway for more info,please refer to the ARTS OF ASIA magazine Vol 27 Number 3,where the Shanghai Museum collections are highlighted and the Jade Humanoid is shown.
