Notes

From the Shang Dynasty of over 3000 years ago is this rare extant Jade  Salamander. Note the folowing:

01. Sculpt from a translucent white Jade.

02. Thicker at the head section,thinning gradually to the tail end.

03.Design on body is by incised lines and note the trident half moon shape,where the tail begins;is a characteristic design in late Shang and early Zhou dynasty Jades.

04.Pair of holes,drilled where the mouth is, for attachment.

05.The outstrectched limbs seem to simulate movement,as if wiggling on the ground.

A rare and unusual Shang Jade Salamander  for evaluation.
