The Huichol Indians are a small tribe of approximately 15,000 living in the Sierra Madre Mountains of West Central Mexico. The reclusive Huichol people are said to be the last tribe in North America to have resisted acculturation and managed to maintain many of their pre-Colombian traditions. They train their hearts to open to the healing powers of love and to the celebrations of life through the seasons. Because of this, they are famous for their strong ceremonial traditions, rich mythology, and incredible visionary artwork. The Huichols say, “There is a mirror between our hearts and everything else in the universe.”

An offering will be made available for sale of their beadwork in the form of gourd bowls, crosses, masks, sun/moons, animal figures, large beaded pictures, and hearts. Their wooden pieces are covered with a thick coating of sticky beeswax where seed beads are pressed into the wax. The designs depict their spiritual reflections in a unique form.
