Shang Jades are usually done in the round or in flat slices,like in this example of a flat standing Owl.Note the following:
01.Double incised lines weave an intricate design on both sides.
02.The Jade is Nephrite and is white and translucent.
03.There is a hole for attachment at back of head.
04.A serrated spine with old tool's marking indicating antiquity.
Good specimen of Shang Dynasty Jade.There is another of similar shape but larger (10.5cm) and of different incised body design from the excavated Jades from the Tomb of Lady Hao.
