The Chinese Jade Carvers of old probably carved all the 12 animals of the Chinese Animal Zodiac and have been trying to collect all twelve and with this Jade Hare(Rabbit) have ten but still missing two,viz. cock & snake.
This Ming Jade is classified as Hare rather than Rabbit because of the more angular form and the longer hind legs.Like how the posture of the hind leg scratching the head & ear;so naturalistic.Also note that the dark patch is probably the outer skin of the Jade(Nephrite)
