Another gold alloy antique from the Tang Dynasty;this time a gold tapering ovoid shaped vase, the shape will be imitated in Tang Tri-colour ceramics and the later Song to Qing porcelain.Interesting in this vase design is that it is completely chased out in floral and leaves, without any animals and birds thus being able to be classified as iconophobic, which ideally should be the preferred design pattern of the Muslim and Jews Perhaps this vase still retain the major influence of the craftsmen of Persia that dominate the gold industry in the early Tang Dynasty. More intriguing would be if this was one of the gold vases fabricated in Persia and brought to China.Anyway an interesting item.
