Antique French Manuscript
Original 17th century manuscript document in brown or faded black ink on vellum (calf skin)
Dated 1669 - 341 years old!
Size is 21cms wide x 28cms long. The condition is good considering its age. There are a few small stains and small tears - see photos. It also has a couple of wrinkles at the bottom.
There appears to be what could be an address written along the length of the document on the back side of the document.
The subject and content of the documentt is unknown.
This document is extremely old. To put its age in perspective - it was written when Louis XIV was king of France and France was the dominant power in Europe. The first french trading station in India was opened and the Paris Opera had its beginning in letters patent granted by the the king. Around the world, 1669 was the year that Crete fell to the Ottoman turks, Dutch colonists quite Brazil, Virginia had its beginnings as colonial planter John Alexander acquired land on the Potomac River, the first stradivarius violin was created and Mount Etna in Sicily erupted.
