John Webber's Grandfather had given him the cup to play with as a child. He assumed it was made of brass, and even used it as a target for his air pistol. When he decided to move to a new house last year, he pulled it out from under his bed ,where it had been forgotten for many years, and had the item valued. Would you believe that it was a rare piece of Persian treasure, and was beaten out of a single sheet of gold? The cup dates back to the third or fourth century B.C.!! It will be put up for auction by Duke's in Dorchester, England, and is expected to fetch almost $1 Million. Read the full story here!

I’ve been invited to do the Auctionwally BlogTalkRadio program on Monday, May 12th at 8PM EST. Auctionwally, a.k.a. Walt Kolenda, will interview me, and some of you will hear the many stories you’ve sent in to me and spoken to me about over the phone told to an Internet audience. An hour and a half of questions and answers about how we are turning the antique and collectibles industry on its head will be in store for you when you tune in. Anyone can call into the show and ask questions, so be sure to participate with us by calling 1-646-378-1561. Walt is a licensed auctioneer with 25 years in the antiques/auction business, as well as a Powerseller on eBay.

After getting the endorsement for our book, “31 Steps to Your Millions in Antiques & Collectibles” from Skip McGrath, perhaps the best known authority on eBay, things have escalated at lightening speed. You can find Skip’s eBay Instruction Products on our website, and I can assure you,if you use any of them, your business will benefit tremendously.

The Auctionwally radio program will expose our business approach to the antiques, collectible and fine art industries and how it can change lives. The vision we formed less than a year ago is now taking shape. It will require super strength by all, including our members, to reach the finish line, but I have no doubts we will. The stories of treasure found and sold according to our plan can make this venture something we will be telling our children about. Each time I receive an e-mail or a phone call from one of our members, I feel your excitement and have confidence that the principles I teach will work for you when applied. Keep the phone calls coming.

Jeremy and Cindy are busy at work reconstructing our site, and they ask you to send in any suggestions or ideas you have. They are eager to hear what our members think and want. I would be remiss if I didn’t give thanks where thanks is due. I prayed that if this plan that I envisioned wasn't from Him, then I wanted it to fail. But, if it was of Him, that he would place his blessing on it. God has shown that this is truly a way in which people’s lives can be changed while, at the same time, help many families in these days of economic stress.

I WILL BE OUT OF TOWN VISITING MY SON IN BALTIMORE TODAY THROUGH SUNDAY. Quoizel starting manufacturing in Manhattan in 1930 and worked in conjunction with both Lenox and Tiffany but other than hopefully finding these markings on the lamps how do you recognize the genuine Tiffany Lamp instead of a Tiffany Quoizel combonation? Or the Lenox Quoizel Combo? Did each company have to sign the name to the lamp and the shade for it to be definite?

Read more: "I Antique Online" Website http://www.iantiqueonline.com

Selling Tiffany Sterling Silver Flatware

You probably don't want to hear this and its probably the reason why your selling off your Tiffany Sterling but the key to Tiffany Sterling flatware or any Sterling flatware selling for the most price depends on the pictures you take and how good you are polishing every piece. Just remember when your polishing each piece, that the work your putting into it is going to help the sale extremely well. There are many dealers out there looking for Sterling at spot rate, but if they know the exact pattern and can purchase a set at spot rate, clean it up then resell they can sometimes triple their money just by throwing a little polish on them. I believe this rule applies to just about all things sterling. The blackened oxidation is just an eyesore in the pics. Also when taking pictures of your post try to utilize contrasting colors to bring the shine out a little more. I probably shouldn't have used that color background now that I look at it closely. Should be a darker richer red or purple.

Read more at: "I Antique Online" Website at http://www.iantiqueonline.com

Testing for Authentic Vaseline Glass

Daryle Lambert's 31 Club Blog

Yesterday, I visited a friend from church to help her appraise some of her mother's items. Her mother's house was filled with items she had collected over a life time, and now it was my friend's time to make some decisions about these things.

The first thing I did was to begin separating items that were truly collectible from those that could be sold in a garage sale. I spotted a pair of beautiful Vaseline Glass candle holders. The design resembled a plate with the back edge pulled up, in the center was the spot for the candle. They didn't know anything about them, so I explained to my friend and her sister that these candle holders were special. I went on to tell them the greenish-yellow color of Vaseline Glass is very eye pleasing, and some serious collectors would even call it magical, and some will even choose a particular shade of this glass to collect.

I explained to them that Vaseline Glass contained uranium and was made mostly before World War II. I went on to tell them that the government stopped the sale of uranium when the war broke out, and that because these pieces contained uranium, its color would change when lit under a black light.

"I have a black light," my friend said. Her father had been a stamp collector and often used a black light for his stamps. I felt this was a challenge to prove my statement. I explained that to use the light correctly, it must be totally dark for the best effect, so I asked if there was a place we could go and look at these pieces in the dark. She thought the front room coat closet would be best. Then, she excused herself to retrieve her father's small 6 inch black light from his old study.

The closet was packed full when I opened the door. We moved away what seemed to be an endless stream of coats as best we could. Then, I entered the closet. The ladies followed right behind me. closing the door behind us. Crammed into this small dark closet, we put the candle holders to the test. I turned on the black light, and the closet came alive with this beautiful florescent color. We all broke out in laughter, feeling like a bunch of kids, sneaking something our parents didn't want us to have or know about.

As you know, when I talk about the 31 Club, I always talks about it being an opportunity to have fun and also make a profit. I can assure you that I had fun yesterday, and so did my friend. I'm sure this story will be repeated many times. God planned for us to spend one lifetime here on earth, and if it isn't fun, then what's the purpose?

At most of the shows I attend, I usually find at least one dealer that features Vaseline Glass. This glass is displayed in a showcase with black lighting, and the pieces glow in the most beautiful greenish-yellow color. The effect is amazing.

A few hundred dollars or less will buy most Vaseline Glass pieces, and in my opinion, it is one of the most undervalued items I come across. This might be something worth your time to watch for, because the better pieces will sell very quickly, and that is what we like. Some glass being made today resembles Vaseline glass, but when you put it to the test, it fails.

Don’t just follow the daily Blog. Join with like-minded 31 Club Members. He is always there to provide a new Spring in our lives, and I am asking all who read this Blog to pray for that new Spring in the lives of our member, Stephen, and his wife.

I'll share this e-mail I received from him yesterday:

Daryle,

I know I've just become a member of your club, but I can sense from you a man with a heart filled with God's love.

I'd like to ask you to keep my wife and I in your prayers. We are going through some difficult marital times and our marriage is in serious danger. I love my wife deeply and the thought of that destroys me!! I've never been much of a church going person, so prayer doesn't come very easy to me.

Thanks in advance for your prayers, and I look forward to building my knowledge and bank accounts too!

I'd also like to get involved partnering with the club on some purchases, how does that work?

Again, thanks!
Stephen

I am sitting here with tears in my eyes, because I can sense the Holy Spirit as he prepares to accept the prays for this couple that will be rising up from so many of you. When I think back on times when I was crying out and the Lord never failed to comfort me. I know he is here with us today.

Here was my response to Stephen.

Hi Stephen

My family and I will be praying tonight for you and for your wife. Making a living is hard work, but nothing like having a good marriage. The way to win this battle is to take it to God. At this time in your lives, it must be you, your wife and God. This threesome can work out any problems that you are encountering. MAKE THE REST OF THE WORLD WAIT UNTIL THE THREE OF YOU HAVE COME TO A SUCCESSFUL ANSWER TO YOUR DIFFICULTIES.

I am going to send you the book "The Five Love Languages" by Gary Chapman, because it gave me the most important information I have ever received outside the Bible for the relationship between a man and woman.

I would like to wait and give you the other answers you ask for later.

God Bless,

Daryle

I was going to conclude this Blog by giving each of you a talk on beginning your race to the million by the start of Spring, but I think I will hold that for tomorrow.

As you can probably see, the 31 Club is more than just a club that uses a wealth building plan that can help you accumulate enough funds to last a lifetime, buying and selling antiques, collectibles, and fine art. Join the 31 Club. I made this prediction last June 13, 2007 in a news article.

After returning from Kentucky this week, I checked eBay for completed sales of Lotton Glass and was pleasantly surprised to see several miniatures Lotton vases that sold for impressive prices. One of the miniatures brought over $700 for a piece just 2 inches tall. The other miniatures commanded prices that have doubled or tripled from prices they were selling for just a few months ago when we, ourselves, sold several Lotton Miniatures.

Not to be outdone, Lotton’s regular size vases are also on a run up. One particular 9 1/2” tall John Lotton vase just sold for $7,200. When you consider that I bought a comparable vase, only 15” tall for half that price six months ago, wouldn't you agree that Lotton is on the move? I remember when Lotton Lamps would come to auction and receive no bids, but that isn’t true today. They are bringing higher prices with each sell.

This price move isn't being missed by the major auction houses either. Next month, on April 10th, The Lotton Glass Club will have its annual meeting in Cincinnati, preceding Early's Fine Glass Auction. Charles Lotton will be appearing to share his unlimited knowledge of Art Glass with us. Going across the auction block will be some of the best Art Glass ever produced, so try to make it if you can. This will be a two day auction, and a perfect place to rub shoulders with many of the experts in the Art Glass field. To obtain more information on these events go to the Lotton Glass Club Website. If you aren't fortunate enough to attend the Lotton Glass Club meeting nor the auction at Early’s, be sure to examine the sale on the Early auction website. More than 30 pieces of Lotton Glass will be presented at Early’s auction.

Not too long ago when I would mention Lotton Glass, I’d get the response, “What is that?” The story has definitely changed. In the past, checking for Lotton Glass at upcoming auctions was an effort in futility because it seldom came up for sale. Not today. And the pieces that are being auctioned are bringing sparkling results. and the pieces that are being auctioned are bringing sparkling results.

I also hear The Cincinnati Art Galleries’ upcoming auction will include 30 or more pieces of Lotton Glass. Be sure to keep up with this auction, too, as I am sure this trend in Lotton Glass is going to continue for some time.
Information like this is what sets your 31 Club ahead of all the others in the search for treasure. Projecting the trends in what is hot and what is not will equip our members for their success in building their personal accounts up with enough funds to live a funded life during their golden years or way before that.
Copyright, March 8, 2008--
George Benson was born with a pure soul voice and an un-nerving passion for the
blues. He won his
first singing contest at four-years-old.
Even then he played to the crowd.

The musical prodigy grew up in Pittsburgh
and hit the jazz scene at age eight playing ukulele and later guitar in corner
pubs around town.

Like a bright star in the dreary
sky above the steel city, there was no stopping the boy or his music.

Today Benson reigns as a jazz giant, one of the greatest rhythm guitar legends in
history. Best of all, he can play just
about any style.

"I was an entertainer first," he said. "I've had the pleasure of playing with
the baddest jazz cats on the planet. But
that doesn't change my desire to entertain folks. That's really who I am."

Benson’s early musical heroes included guitarists Charlie
Christian, Wes Montgomery, Django Reinhardt, Hank Garland and Grant Green. But he developed
a style all his own.

“I've always liked the hot guitar guys, he said."

One of Benson’s prize possessions was a Gibson L-5 guitar that
belonged to jazz great Wes Montgomery.
It was the guitar Wes recorded many of his hits on like “Goin Out of My
Head” and “Windy.”

The guitar was pictured on the album cover of “Movin
Wes.” It was also the same one Benson
used for a tribute concert for Wes at the Hollywood Bowl.

On Oct 14, Skinner Auctioneers, Boston,
Mass., featured the guitar for sale in its
Fine Musical Instruments auction which included the collection of George
Benson. The guitar sold for $41,125.

People, including me, talk about Paintings, Pottery and Furniture appreciating, but Holy Cow, Batman, how about comics books!!??

This story of riches found in Comic Books is from an E-mail I received from 31 Club Member Vicki H. I include it because, otherwise, her story might just seem like a fantasy. Here's Vicki's letter about several lots of comic books she had listed on eBay last week, on consignment.

"Hi Mr. Lambert,

Wowie-Zowies! What a Week! Well, are you ready for this? $12,956.16!!!

However, I did have one glitch. Ebay canceled one auction -- oddly enough it was the lot of two Terror comics that you featured in your blog. I am not certain of what happened exactly, but according to another bidder, some girl from CA with a Hawaiian name was sniping and somehow revealed the other top bidders high bid. And they didn't allow me to have the chance to see the site again, making it impossible for me to contact the second bidder or to use as a re-list. I had to rewrite the whole ad.

It's already up to $51 though so it's ok. The fees are quite high, about $400 on this lot. But, where else would I have gotten these prices? So, I guess Ebay does have a hold on us sellers.

Now, you know I only get to keep 35% of this, however that comes to a whopping $4534.66! and I had no initial investment. Kind of nice huh? After I give my tithe --always first, I plan on making a large payment to my credit card and one or two car payments. It has been a struggle for me since I injured my back. I am not really able to conduct estate sales any longer and plan on doing appraisals and online selling for people full time now.

But I will take at least $200 to add to my treasure account. This gives me $1000.00 to spend. Now I need your help. What do you think of investing in Loetz glass? Or possibly Newcomb college pottery? Do you think I could double my money by investing in one of these items? Do you have any good suggestions on what I should look at? I am very excited to be a part of this club and really feel like I'm getting the hang of it!

Thank you so much for your time and talent that you have been so generous with! God Bless You! Vicki"

Now, Vicki didn't make all the profit herself because she was selling the comics on consignment, but I think you'll agree this sale put a big smile on her face. You can check her completed sales by doing an advanced search under her seller name: zvicki40

I really appreciate the way she finished her email by thanking your 31 Club for all its help and showing that her life is in the hands of God and giving the first portion of her profit to help do his work in the world. If the Comic Book had only increased by 71, its selling price would have been $7.70 not $660.00. Even if you went back further where the painting could have been purchased for $100,000, the factor would have been 710 times, while a 710 times factor on a dime is only $71. Still far from $660.
Although this year's Oscars were the least watched in history
(we're talking 80 years of ceremonies-ouch), there were still some
noteworthy events worth chatting about...

Diablo Cody, the cleverly named screenwriting ex-stripper/blogger
(phew) that we've all come to know and love, turned down an offer to
wear a pair of antique inspired shoes to the ceremony. It's not
that the Juno scribe didn't like the glitzy shoes, it's that
she didn't want to be a walking publicity stunt for some designer.
Oh, did I mention that they were worth over a million bucks?
Some people buy mansions, some buy one single pair of shoes.
I'm sure the designer will find someone willing to toss out a million dollars
for a somewhat cute, however, impractical pair of shoes that
automatically require an entourage of security guards.

Cody didn't know the worth of the designer shoes until after she
agreed to wear them. She later retracted her decision, opting for a
pair of shoes that appeared to be about $999,950 less (ish). The point
being, is that the value things carry can be a total shock. Just
ask Diablo. (Yeah, that's devil in Spanish. How punk rock/totally
creepy, right?)

So, you're probably thinking, "Who would throw a million
bucks worth of diamonds on their feet?" But, you might
also be thinking, "Hey, I've got some vintage inspired pieces of
my own. How
do I value antiques?" Well, you might find the answer
by showing your antique collectible to expert antique
appraisers and getting certified antique
appraisals to find undiscovered value. You might even try
checking out an antiques
price guide. Who knows, one day you might find a million
dollar pair of antique shoes under your bed. Whether you wear them
or not is a whole different story...
