A certain Singer, Actor or Race Car Driver might suit you better, but regardless of your taste, there is plenty of opportunity to turn this interest into dollars.

No, I don't want you to change what you are doing now, as you study with me to acquire the knowledge that will set you free, but why not take advantage of some of the knowledge you’ve already acquired?

Here’s some examples: I’ve told you about my friend Warner before, and how he has become perhaps one of the top collectors of Lotton Glass. In fact, Warner started the Lotton Glass Club only a few years ago, although Charles Lotton began making glass in the early 1970s. I can’t tell you why someone hadn’t started a club earlier, but after Warner started the club, he found that there were a great many people who already had large collections of Lotton Glass.

Warner soon became the person to contact if you were looking to buy or sell Lotton Glass. Presto! A new business was formed. Ask anyone who enjoys this beautiful glass and they will tell you how thankful they are that Warner took it upon himself to provide this service. And he has made it a very successful business. Warner still has all the knowledge that he acquired while we were partners, and when he sees a bargain in anything other than Lotton Glass, I can assure you he still can pounce on it. He has followed the 31 Club plan, while at the same time, choose to concentrate in mostly one area.

You have the same opportunity to do just as Warner has done. Find something that you like for yourself, buy it and then sell it. By doing this over and over again, people will start recognizing you as the authority on the items that you are buying and selling. You can become the focal point for that collectible. You can start with one baseball card, one company’s figurine, a record by a certain artist or a painting. Let people know you are looking for these certain items. I can give you several websites that provide free advertising and you can place ads in the wanted to buy sections. In fact, I do this all the time and just today, I had emails from people wanting to sell a Harvey Joiner painting and some Lotton Glass.

The next person I want to tell you about is Colin, who is as close to me a son. Soon after we became acquainted, I found out that his favorite singing group was Bone Thugs-n-Harmony. You might not be familiar with them, but to a special group of followers, they are the best thing since apple pie. Believe it or not, there are probably thousands of collectors that are building a collection of this group's memorabilia. Colin tells me that he may have the largest single collection of their items in America. He in his own way, and has turned this into a business. No, he doesn't take the money out when he sells his duplicates. Instead, he reinvests it in more items for his collection. He’s following a plan just like the 31 Club Plan, only his money is always committed to his collection.

I hope that this information will get you thinking about what you can do. I will continue to share individual items for you to watch, but there is so much you can do in this business. So, stay with me, and pass the word.

Don’t just follow the daily Blog. Join with like-minded 31 Club Members. I made this prediction last June 13, 2007 in a news article.

After returning from Kentucky this week, I checked eBay for completed sales of Lotton Glass and was pleasantly surprised to see several miniatures Lotton vases that sold for impressive prices. One of the miniatures brought over $700 for a piece just 2 inches tall. The other miniatures commanded prices that have doubled or tripled from prices they were selling for just a few months ago when we, ourselves, sold several Lotton Miniatures.

Not to be outdone, Lotton’s regular size vases are also on a run up. One particular 9 1/2” tall John Lotton vase just sold for $7,200. When you consider that I bought a comparable vase, only 15” tall for half that price six months ago, wouldn't you agree that Lotton is on the move? I remember when Lotton Lamps would come to auction and receive no bids, but that isn’t true today. They are bringing higher prices with each sell.

This price move isn't being missed by the major auction houses either. Next month, on April 10th, The Lotton Glass Club will have its annual meeting in Cincinnati, preceding Early's Fine Glass Auction. Charles Lotton will be appearing to share his unlimited knowledge of Art Glass with us. Going across the auction block will be some of the best Art Glass ever produced, so try to make it if you can. This will be a two day auction, and a perfect place to rub shoulders with many of the experts in the Art Glass field. To obtain more information on these events go to the Lotton Glass Club Website. If you aren't fortunate enough to attend the Lotton Glass Club meeting nor the auction at Early’s, be sure to examine the sale on the Early auction website. More than 30 pieces of Lotton Glass will be presented at Early’s auction.

Not too long ago when I would mention Lotton Glass, I’d get the response, “What is that?” The story has definitely changed. In the past, checking for Lotton Glass at upcoming auctions was an effort in futility because it seldom came up for sale. Not today. And the pieces that are being auctioned are bringing sparkling results. and the pieces that are being auctioned are bringing sparkling results.

I also hear The Cincinnati Art Galleries’ upcoming auction will include 30 or more pieces of Lotton Glass. Be sure to keep up with this auction, too, as I am sure this trend in Lotton Glass is going to continue for some time.
Information like this is what sets your 31 Club ahead of all the others in the search for treasure. Projecting the trends in what is hot and what is not will equip our members for their success in building their personal accounts up with enough funds to live a funded life during their golden years or way before that.
Copyright, March 8, 2008--
George Benson was born with a pure soul voice and an un-nerving passion for the
blues. He won his
first singing contest at four-years-old.
Even then he played to the crowd.

The musical prodigy grew up in Pittsburgh
and hit the jazz scene at age eight playing ukulele and later guitar in corner
pubs around town.

Like a bright star in the dreary
sky above the steel city, there was no stopping the boy or his music.

Today Benson reigns as a jazz giant, one of the greatest rhythm guitar legends in
history. Best of all, he can play just
about any style.

"I was an entertainer first," he said. "I've had the pleasure of playing with
the baddest jazz cats on the planet. But
that doesn't change my desire to entertain folks. That's really who I am."

Benson’s early musical heroes included guitarists Charlie
Christian, Wes Montgomery, Django Reinhardt, Hank Garland and Grant Green. But he developed
a style all his own.

“I've always liked the hot guitar guys, he said."

One of Benson’s prize possessions was a Gibson L-5 guitar that
belonged to jazz great Wes Montgomery.
It was the guitar Wes recorded many of his hits on like “Goin Out of My
Head” and “Windy.”

The guitar was pictured on the album cover of “Movin
Wes.” It was also the same one Benson
used for a tribute concert for Wes at the Hollywood Bowl.

On Oct 14, Skinner Auctioneers, Boston,
Mass., featured the guitar for sale in its
Fine Musical Instruments auction which included the collection of George
Benson. The guitar sold for $41,125.

seen. That’s what the advertising handbill
called it.

“The Houdini’s Original Introducers of Metamorphosis. Exchanging Places in 3 Seconds,” the poster
said.

At the top Harry Houdini’s vignette could be seen with the
words “Harry the King of Handcuffs” underneath.
In the bottom right was a vignette of his assistant and wife Bess and
the words “Beatrice Queen of Mystery.”

Metamorphosis was its name.

Onstage Houdini climbed into a sack that was placed inside a
large wooden traveler’s trunk. Audience
members tied Houdini’s hands behind his back as he crouched inside close to the
row of air holes along the bottom.

The sack was shut and tied securely with ropes. Finally, the lid to the trunk was also closed
along with the stage curtain.

“Now then, I shall clap my hands three times and at the
third and last time I ask you to watch closely for the effect,” Bess said.

She quickly closed the curtain and vanished from sight. Instantly the curtain was reopened not by
Bess but by Houdini himself.

Bess was now gone.
Houdini turned toward the trunk.
He reopened the lid and inside knelt Bess with her hands tied behind her
back.

The switch was made.
But how?

Just seeing a Houdini advertising poster in 1895 was often
enough to coax people to buy a ticket to the show. These posters were the mainstay of promotion
at the turn-of-the-century.

On Oct. 25, Swann Galleries,
New York, featured the poster described in
The Christian Fechner Collection of American & European Magic, Part
III. The 28 by 20 ¾ inch poster sold for
$60,000.

People, including me, talk about Paintings, Pottery and Furniture appreciating, but Holy Cow, Batman, how about comics books!!??

This story of riches found in Comic Books is from an E-mail I received from 31 Club Member Vicki H. I include it because, otherwise, her story might just seem like a fantasy. Here's Vicki's letter about several lots of comic books she had listed on eBay last week, on consignment.

"Hi Mr. Lambert,

Wowie-Zowies! What a Week! Well, are you ready for this? $12,956.16!!!

However, I did have one glitch. Ebay canceled one auction -- oddly enough it was the lot of two Terror comics that you featured in your blog. I am not certain of what happened exactly, but according to another bidder, some girl from CA with a Hawaiian name was sniping and somehow revealed the other top bidders high bid. And they didn't allow me to have the chance to see the site again, making it impossible for me to contact the second bidder or to use as a re-list. I had to rewrite the whole ad.

It's already up to $51 though so it's ok. The fees are quite high, about $400 on this lot. But, where else would I have gotten these prices? So, I guess Ebay does have a hold on us sellers.

Now, you know I only get to keep 35% of this, however that comes to a whopping $4534.66! and I had no initial investment. Kind of nice huh? After I give my tithe --always first, I plan on making a large payment to my credit card and one or two car payments. It has been a struggle for me since I injured my back. I am not really able to conduct estate sales any longer and plan on doing appraisals and online selling for people full time now.

But I will take at least $200 to add to my treasure account. This gives me $1000.00 to spend. Now I need your help. What do you think of investing in Loetz glass? Or possibly Newcomb college pottery? Do you think I could double my money by investing in one of these items? Do you have any good suggestions on what I should look at? I am very excited to be a part of this club and really feel like I'm getting the hang of it!

Thank you so much for your time and talent that you have been so generous with! God Bless You! Vicki"

Now, Vicki didn't make all the profit herself because she was selling the comics on consignment, but I think you'll agree this sale put a big smile on her face. You can check her completed sales by doing an advanced search under her seller name: zvicki40

I really appreciate the way she finished her email by thanking your 31 Club for all its help and showing that her life is in the hands of God and giving the first portion of her profit to help do his work in the world. I am truly inspired by her.

No matter how much I write on the advantages you receive by being a member of the 31 Club, only successes like this one will prove the truthfulness of the program we have developed for you. If we truly want to help ourselves, as well as our neighbor, we need to be sharing this program with everyone we meet

Now for some math to ponder:

If you are amazed with an Andy Warhol painting selling for $71,000,000 that could likely have been purchased for $1,000,000 five years ago, what would you say about those comic books that could have been purchased for .05 or .10 selling for $660.00?

Do we need to jump in the Bat Mobile or be faster than a speeding bullet to take advantage of the collectible comic book markets? If the Comic Book had only increased by 71, its selling price would have been $7.70 not $660.00. Even if you went back further where the painting could have been purchased for $100,000, the factor would have been 710 times, while a 710 times factor on a dime is only $71. Still far from $660. style="font-size:78%;">

It is easy to find out the value for paintings by Andy Warhol, Robert Wood, or Thomas Paine by going to the Internet or Davenports Price Guide, but how about Stefin Krammar, Harvey Joiner, or Robert Knudson? If you haven't heard of these last three, that comes as no surprise to me. But I have a painting by each one of these artists. Why do I have these? Each one has great quality in their workmanship and has a fairly high retail value if you can find a buyer. Besides that, I paid very little for them.

By doing the smallest amount of research, you will find the values on 150,000 artist in the Davenports Guide and many more on an Internet Search. This still leaves thousands of artist undiscovered that command high prices for their pieces.

In fact, I have found that the most money to be made, based on percentage invested, is in finding a painting that will bring a great deal of money in a particular part of the country, but the artist doesn't make the regular channels that you would generally consult.

Let's take my Stefin Krammar for instance. Mine is a watercolor of a cowboy riding through the countryside. At the time I found it, western scenes appealed to me. I purchase it for $250. It was very well done, so I figured that it was worth more than $250, even if Krammar wasn't a well known artist. I searched and searched for information about Krammar, and I finally discovered that he was a Texas artist and a museum in Texas was compiling an exhibit of his work. Nothing could be found on the Internet or in my guides, so I called the museum inquiring about its possible worth. My jaw dropped to the floor when the answer came back "$5000." Yes, it was worth a lot in Texas but it seemed nowhere else. I had very little competition in buying this painting because most people would have given up on finding a value on this artist after that initial search. Knowledge and that extra mile will pay off in spades if you are patient.

Harvey Joiner and Robert Knudson are similar situations. There is little known about them outside of a small area of the country where their work is collected. Harvey Joiner's paintings will bring three to five time more in Kentucky than anywhere else in the country. If you check his record price for a painting, I think it will be about $4000. But, I can assure you that the right piece of his work in Kentucky might fetch $15,000- $20,000 dollars or more. Remember the Joiner portrait I bought on the East Coast for $240 sold for $3,700 in Indiana.

I think that you can see what I'm getting at. If a painting has a high enough quality, you might not have to worry if you don't find it in the guides. You can still turn some serious money. By having the knowledge to evaluate the quality of a painting, it can substantially reduce your competition, especially if you don't recognize the artist.

How do you get this knowledge? By looking at as many paintings as you can and trying to distinguish what makes each one valuable. There is no substitute for viewing paintings, but also you have the staff at the 31 Club to help you. />
Antique Sewing Kit Sold on Ebay for $476 USD (231 GBP)

Yesterday I wrote about antique and vintage linens & textiles, particularly "Samplers," so today I thought it would be a good time to expand to the sewing experience.

With the cost of clothing accelerating at such a fast pace and the quality of it declining, you might expect the interest in home sewing to gain popularity once again. There has always been interest in sewing collectibles, but the future trends might even increase this interest. Just last month, Cindy made the comment that she might have to find someone to make her a dress. She had an affair to attend and couldn't find a dress that she felt was appropriate or even fit well. Not only that, she told me she has a hard time buying clothing now because the clothes are "so ugly and trendy, and not made to fit someone like me." I wonder how many other people feel the same way.

For the home sewer, the modern machines might seem like the logical solution, but don't be surprised if you see the ladies, as well as men, begin to do some of their own sewing the old fashioned way. And, what will they need in the way of equipment and supplies to do this?

They may need thimbles, sewing birds, darners, pincushions, scissors, tape measures and needles for a start. Now that we have got those things out of the way, what's next? Thread, sewing boxes, thread caddies, a sewing machine, and several other additions.

Wow! Are you sure you want to start this venture? How sure are you that it will save money? But if this is what you decide to do, it might not be about money. It might just be for the fun of making something yourself that others will see you wearing or being used in your home. It might just be for the satisfaction of making something of high quality of your own design. Doing things the way your mother or grandmother did things can prove to be very rewarding.

I know very little about sewing, but this I promise you -- there is gold in those antique sewing articles that were used by your relatives. When I want to get general information on pricing, I usually start with eBay's completed auctions and Kovels price guide. These don't represent the low or the high end of the market, but I have found they give me a general idea about the markets for the items I am researching.

Lets start with the antique sewing box. A fairly common one made of wood can set you back from $150 to $750. If you really want to get fancy, buy the three tiered 1892 initialed pincushion I saw for over $4,000. While we are accumulating the other items needed, we might want to look at sewing machines. A Clark Foliage from 1859 comes in at about $5,000. The Shaw & Clark sewing machine will set you back about $7,000. This sewing thing seems to be getting expense, don't you think? I once bought a Singer Featherweight machine for under $100, and it sold at auction for over $500. That has been my best purchase in the sewing arena only because it hasn't crossed my mind to look. I'll need to reconsider when I go into an estate sale or even a garage sale next time.

Sewing birds and darners can be picked up for a couple of hundred dollars and generally, pincushions fall in $25 to $500 range. Most of the other accessories can be purchased for under $100. And guess what? We haven't yet thought about the threads and fabrics.

One of our 31 Club members, Ondre H., just finished selling a large group of sewing machine instruction books on eBay and was surprised with the results. They all sold, and most of the for over $30. Several did considerably better than that. Her father was in the business and had accumulated these over many years. They covered a wide range of machines, so the collectors were very excited to receive them.

Personally, I am not going to take up sewing, but collecting these items is a different story. There are many people who collect the items that had been used every day by their mothers, grandmothers and great grandmothers. Finding these items and getting them into the hands of collectors who treasure them is a valuable service you can provide while you make money doing it. These kinds of items will be good purchases for those beginning their Steps with the 31 Club and will propel you upward so you can soon join those traders who are dealing in the higher end markets.

Anyone interested in vintage sewing items will benefit from having The Story of Antique Needle Tools by Bridget McConnel become part of their library. Tables filled with antique table cloths, doilies and napkins always seem to get their attention, and I never fully understood the attraction. I knew there must be one, so doing what I recommended for you to do, I searched out information on these items. To my great surprise, there were listings of considerable value for them.

No, not hundreds of thousands of dollars but definitely value that would make these items candidates for purchase when you are in your early steps, aiming to ascend through the 31 Steps I write about in my book, 31 Steps to Your Millions in Antiques & Collectibles.

The secret seems to be that when you find a group of these miscellaneous articles, (there may be 50 to a 100 pieces lying there) buying them inexpensively as a group or lot, and then assembling sets from them and selling the rest individually can result in a large profit, if you bought them cheap enough.

I didn't know the difference between embroidery and crochet, but this I do know: It took many hours to produce each one of these pieces, and no matter what they cost today it would be a fraction of their value when considering the loving hours spent producing them. I can still see my Aunts and my Grandmothers sitting in their rocking chairs, stitching away with ease and precision. Isn't it a shame that we no longer appreciated this work of love that was done so many years ago.

To give you some ideas of value, I went to eBay and pulled up completed sales and found that it wasn't unusual to find pieces selling for over $200. If you were able to purchase 50 assorted pieces for $100 and they only averaged $5 each, you would have reached your goal of doubling your money. But what if one or two pieces brought over $200? The return might be 400 or 500% on your money. This is where the compounding that we keep telling you about comes into play.

Let's say this was your first purchase. You paid $100 and the sale brought in $500 for you. That's five times your money, and you'd be well on your way. If you took that $500 and made five times your money on your next 3 buys, we'd be talking about $62,500. This might seem unrealistic to you but I can guarantee that it is happening in our group today. Even if you slow it down and just double your money each time, like I talk about in the book, what would you have? Think about it.

To go even further with antique linens, I must tell you about "Samplers", so you won't miss the opportunity you see some. Children, as well as adults, practiced their sewing on small squares or rectangular pieces of cloth many years ago. These practice pieces are called "Samplers." The best pieces were known to be produced between 1790 -1840. Often, Samplers were made with the listing of the ABC's and had the persons name and the date it was produced stitched on the bottom. Later ones often had numbers, borders, and even pictures applied to them. My personal favorites are the ones that contain mottoes.

The price for the treasures can be tremendous. Rather plain ones can command $200 to $500. But I think that you will find the better examples bringing from $1000 to $10,000. In fact, I will be adding her works to our hot list for this year. There are many of her treasures to be found, but right now, most people wouldn't even recognize them as Treasures. But, isn't that precisely what we're looking for?

I will continue to guide our 31 Club Members to study the rare and unusual. That is where the real money is to be found, and that is what we are looking for. Clarice Cliff falls in to this class, and we are so thankful that it is off most people's radar.

This lady was way ahead of her time when she popped onto the scene in the early twenties. Clarice Cliff's colorful Art Deco wares were the hit of the town back then. She produced almost everything that could be used on the proper English Table. Over time, these wonderful pieces have been forgotten by most people, but now, they have arisen once again, lead by the tremendous demand for her Bizzarre Ware. Honolulu, Rudyard and Blue Firs are other patterns that also command extremely high prices.

It seems strange to me that more U.S. dealers aren't really acquainted with Clarice Cliff, but that can also be said about most things that are produced outside of this country. I'm guessing the reason why is that most U.S. dealers might feel that since it wasn't produced in this country, then their chances of finding a great piece are slim, so they don't bother researching these areas. It's the same old story. Buy what we can find the most of. What a mistake that is.

There is a wonderful site that I would like to direct you to: www.claricecliff.com. At this collector's club, I promise you that items can be seen here that you will fall in love with. They are as modern as today and can definitely dress up a rather dull table. This site provides you with all the patterns and designs for Cliff's work plus the marks you will be looking for.

Should you find a piece of Clarice Cliff ware, be sure to check for damage because this will reduce the price that someone is willing to pay by as much as 75%.

I once picked up a piece of Bizzare Ware from a grouping of items spread out on a table, and the lady at the sale told me that I can have anything there for five dollars. To tell the truth, I just liked the Deco look, so I bought it. I put it on eBay, and the first night the bid was already over $150. "Well, looky here," I said to myself. If I remember it correctly, it closed between $350-$500. Now that is the return I love to see.

If everyone is talking about certain items, then your chances of making a score are slim. But if you're the only one in the crowd that knows the value of the items being offered, then you are in a pear tree.

Find out more about my book, 31 Steps to Your Millions in Antiques & Collectibles. Thomas Webb and Sons, formed in 1837, was probably the most famous glass producer, having been formed by Thomas Webb after his partnership with the Richardson Brothers dissolved in 1836.

Thomas Webb wasn't a man to be just content with having a great glass company. He wanted to be the best ever. I think he succeeded. While Thomas Webb died in 1896, Thomas Wilkes Webb, one of his three sons, led the company to becoming the most prominent English company.

Thomas Webb and Sons is mostly known best for their Cameo Glass, which is highly collected, and their Rock Crystal Glass. Queen’s Burmese Ware was a very popular, commercially successful glass produced by Webb and is considered more common.

Producing Cameo Glass is a process where a design is drawn on the glass with a acid resistance substance and then it is dipped into hydrofluoric acid to eat away the unprotected surface. Then it can be polished and tinted. Thomas took out a patent on Ivory Cameo in 1887. Cameo glass goes back thousands of years, and it is an interesting study you might want to look into further to see how the process evolved.

If you are ever fortune enough to find a piece of Webb glass you should hope that it was produced by the Woodall brothers, Thomas or George. They both joined Webb at about the same time in1874. There is so much to share with you about Webb Glass, I'll have to finish tomorrow. This just might be my favorite glass, even though I haven't been fortune enough to own a piece.

Discover how my book, "31 Steps to Your Millions in Antiques & Collectibles" can be the tool that helps you become financially free following the same simple financial principles that the wealthy follow -- all with antiques, fine art, and collectibles.

If you haven't yet had a chance to see what we've got listed in the 31 Gallery & Marketplace, click on over and take a look. So -- today, I'm following up on that with one of America's most beautiful glass -- Quezal Glass.

As a young man, Martin Bach, Sr., born in 1865, worked for the St. Louis Glass Works before coming to the United States. He was determined to become a master in glass, so in 1884, when Tiffany and Nash started their company, he became their first mixer. Studying under these men, he learned all the formulation skills he needed to duplicate the glass that he was helping produce. Finally, after having a quarrel with Mr. Nash, Bach resigned to start his own company.

Not having the experience in glass blowing, he heard that Thomas Johnson, a gaffer at the Corona Glass Works was looking for employment, so together they formed the Quezal Art Glass company in 1901. Most of their employees came from the Tiffany plants. Quezal's early pieces were mostly unsigned, and they were identical to Tiffany, so later many of these were signed "Tiffany."

This so infuriated Tiffany that he had his designer produce new designs that were different than the ones being produced by Quezal. This must have been quite a tiff, because at one time, Tiffany even considered stopping the production of all iridescent glass at his factories but then reconsidered.

In some peoples eyes, Quezal pieces were more desirable than Tiffany. They say that the Quezal pieces are more colorful and have more definition than Tiffany.

After 1905, Quezal was having some financial difficulties, and this began their downward slide. Eventually, most of their great employees began to leave for other jobs. Then, in 1924, Martin Bach, Sr. died. His son, Martin Bach, Jr. took over the company, but it was never the same. Finally, Martin Bach, Jr. went to work for the Vineland Flint Glass Works --the Durand Glass I wrote about yesterday. I guess I can see why Cindy wanted me to write about Quezal first. It keeps things in chronological order.

Quezal Glass and Durand Glass hold about the same value. Tiffany's value is higher, and there is more of this glass than, Quezal or Durand.

All through the early years in this country, the true artists in the fields of Pottery and Glass got their training with many companies before starting their own. It wasn't rare to see a person leave a company, yet years later be working for that same company.

And, "Why settle for mediocrity when magnificence is right around the corner?"

My father was a man of humble beginning, but through his faith in God and in his given abilities, he found an inner strength that I have seen in no one else. When I share my hopes for you, they are coming directly from the spirit that my dad imparted to me.

Yes, I do have confidence that you can reach any level of success regardless of how high it is. I ask you to consider the words my father gave me and take them to heart. He had faith in me, and I have faith in you.

Others will discourage you, and yes, you might even be discouraging yourself. But be un-frayed in your dogged determination to succeed. Be open to taking direction. Your success will be achieved by your acquiring knowledge and taking the appropriate actions. Then you will sit at the top of the mountain where the eagles rest.

Make a study of how wealthy people think. Do you realize they think differently than most people? There are plenty of books out there about wealth and wealthy people, and we've included some of the best, on our recommended reading list. Understand the "millionaire mindset," as Cindy calls it, and begin to make it your mindset. If you can't see yourself as being successful or wealthy, you won't be. Being wealthy is a way of thinking. These books can help you examine the thoughts that run through your head. If you discovered that what you think about might be holding you back, wouldn't you want to know how to change those thoughts? If you haven't yet selected a book or two from this recommended book list, why not do that now? Get out of the gate with the right thinking and give yourself a healthy start. You'll find things will become much easier for you after that.

In my book, "31 Steps to Your Millions in Antiques and Collectibles," and here on this Blog, I stress the rare and higher end of the market. Why? Because this is where the challenge is.

Aim high. Now, I don't expect people to be running out and looking at high priced items right out of the gate. You have to have knowledge about these things. When you start out, you're buying lower range items and acquiring knowledge at the same time. Learn as you earn. Each time you buy something, you'll be studying about that item by researching its possible value, and where you might sell it. That process is an education in itself.

When you set yourself up to study about something during the week, whether it be pottery, antique bottles, glass, paintings, collectible radios, or anything you have an interest in, you are expanding your knowledge base and arming yourself for the next time you go out or look on the Internet at items. Pick out your interest and pursue it. Pursue it as if nothing else matters until you have the confidence that comes only by this extraordinary effort.

Have you visited the library to browse through books? Have you visited any Antique Shows and asked the dealers questions until you thought your time with them had expired? Are you keeping ongoing lists, noting the rare in your particular area of study? Price Guides can tell you this. Reviewing past sales and photos at auction houses from the comfort of your computer chair works wonders. Completed sales listings on Ebay, sorted from the highest price to the lowest price is a great tool. Make note of the more rare and higher end of whatever subject you are studying. Review, review, review. Put things on notecards if you want. Study in a way that works for you.

How many people have you spoken to about what you're doing? Do you have others whom you've asked for support in your new direction? Is your company set up, and have you made your $100 deposit in your company checking account? Do you have business cards? How many have you given out each day? Can you commit to giving out a certain number of business cards to people you've spoken to about what you're doing?

Have you called and checked in with me? I offer my continual help to all who call.

In the service, soldiers are pushed to their limits to find out who they really are as men. Do I mean that your quest must be twenty-four hours a day? No. In fact, just the opposite is true. In my book, I state that you don't have to change your current life to complete the 31 Steps. How can that be? It sounds contradictory. Not at all. What I'm stating is that whatever time you do give for you new quest, give it 100% of your effort for that time. This may only be five to ten hours a week, but used wisely, it will be enough.

I had a heart felt concern yesterday when I received a comment from one of our readers about the Blog I wrote about Marsha's success. I could feel their suffering as they expressed negative opinions about the successful day that Marsha had. It seemed they wanted to down play it and diminish the joy that was felt that day. The questions and comments had a negative feel and asked -- Are they sold? Will you have to list it on Ebay 6 times? Will you have people knocking down your door to buy from you because you're offering the best at fair prices? Finally, the person got to the real center of the concern. "To me this business is kind of like kissing frogs - in addition to the big wins out there, there are a lot of bloopers that I think we all need to experience to pay for our education."

I don't believe that we need to experience failure to be successful. That is why the 31 Club and my staff are here for you. We're here to help prevent those bloopers that, evidently, this person has experienced.

I sincerely hope that the writer of these comments will join us by following our plan, and will give me a call. For those who stick with the plan and commit to putting in 100% effort for the time they spend with this, I know that within a year's time, their outlook will be bright.

When you have a mindset like a millionaire, and put in 100% effort during the time you devote to this business, you won't have to find success. Success will come to you.

Join me and the rest of the 31 Club right here. But there are exceptions. No, I'm not interested in making furniture one of my primary items to deal with, but I might make an exception if the money is right.

I'm talking about cars today. Yesterday, a friend asked if I would buy or sell her daughter's car because she was away at college and didn't need it. My first inclination was to say no, but I appreciated that she had thought of me so I had second thoughts. Then I wondered what kind of car it was, so I asked. Turn out it's an early Cadillac convertible from 1968 in great shape.

Wow! I had just read where these convertibles from the 50s and 60s, with their huge tail fins and big headlights were in big demand. All of a sudden my thoughts changed. I could just envision that Cadillac being a mile long with those hugs fins as I took it for a drive down the highway. A real treasure was being dropped into my lap.

At this point, whether I bought the car or sold it on consignment, it was going to be a great find for me. You see if people know what your doing don't be surprised what happens. I just happened to be at church, and she approached me with this proposition. Keep in mind we are in the money growing business. I wouldn't want to become a used car salesman, but if I can purchase a real classic car or even sell it for someone, I would be a fool to turn it down.

Remember, it is always about what the item is. If I get a call on an old pump organ, I usually ask the person what they would pay me to move it, but if the call is about a Steinway piano, then that is a different story. The rare and expensive items will make all the extra work you might have to do worth it. Don't prejudge until you know what is being offered.

All the big name celebrities collect cars, and I am sure you've heard that Jay Leno has one of the biggest collections in the country. When I was a child, it was the Model A's and Model T's that people collected, but today, the muscle cars and the large touring cars are popular and in demand.

When I was interested in cars as a teen, I dreamed about Alburns, Packards, Cords and other cars of that vintage. Not collectors today. They want the Corvette, GTO, Mustang and other vintage muscle cars. Even if you find a car with a with a special engine, it can add thousands of dollars to its value today. Believe it or not, I have even seen cars that needed total restorations sell for thousands of dollars.

Get a car magazine and just list the cars that are in demand. Then keep your eyes open. There might be one sitting right in your neighborhood that could be a great treasure for you. There might be one sitting in the driveway of the next estate sale you attend. Or, browse the Internet for prices of these treasures.

Isn't this business great? Who says money doesn't grow on trees? I am so thankful I read that great book, “Treasure Island” as a kid, and I'm still experiencing the adventure today.

Discover how the 31 Club, together with our book, can be the tool that helps you begin building personal wealth using antiques, collectibles and fine art, rather than the conventional methods of using stock, bonds, and real estate investing. 1981 George Nakashima Coffee Table Sold in 2006 for $102,000

Modern 20th Century Design. Those objects of art, lighting, and furniture from about 1920 through the present time, continue to be a hot commodity in the collectibles world. This has been the trend and continues to grow as a red hot commodity today, with no let up in sight. Modern Design, is the one area of the collectible world that piques the interest of the younger crowd as well as those who grew up during the time period of these great designers.

My interest in this area of the market was piqued on a visit to a prospective client's home to buy some paintings. Cindy was with me that day, and upon entering, we both noticed the woman's house looked a bit sparse. She soon began to tell us about the modern items she had sold recently, including the metal lamp with little cone shaped light shades, each of a different color. She added that she and her husband paid little for this light fixture at the time they first set up house. Now that she was a widow with grown children and grandchildren, she no longer needed a large home, so she called an auction house to look at her period furniture. A man by the name of Richard Wright came to look at some of her items, and she consigned the lamp, along with several other items to the auction house. To her amazement, that lamp she described to us sold for $12,000. She also sold some of her furniture for thousands, as well.

Furniture, lighting, and art objects from the top designers of this time have been copied, often rather badly, but it is the designer pieces of this time that are considered works of art, commanding top prices in today's marketplace. My client, had consigned her pieces to Richard Wright at Wright Auction House in Chicago's West Loop. And what an excellent decision that was.

No one has changed the world of Modern Design Furniture and Objects of Art as much as Wright Auction House. In 2000, founders Richard Wright and his wife, Julie Thoma Wright opened the doors of their auction business, specializing in items from this period. Their business creativity drastically changed the face of business in this area of the market. Julie Thomas Wright, we are sorry to say, has recently passed away, but it was her visionary ideas for this business that propelled this company forward to become today's standard for Modern Design Collectibles. Today, Wright Auctions is known internationally as the spot to go for the best of these designer items.

Why am I writing about this? There are two reasons. First, for those who are following my book and have joined the 31 Club, dealing in these more rare and valuable items is the direction we are moving toward. You might still be working the lower end steps at the moment, but when you stick with it, continuing to complete each step, soon enough you will find yourself in the position to be buying rare and high end items. Knowledge about these designer items will expand the areas in which you can trade.

Secondly, most of my readers know, as a rule, I don't deal in antique furniture. I'm not much interested in dealing with bulky items that require more than myself to transport, nor do I want to keep the kind of storage space furniture requires. But, I must say, in this case, I'm seriously considering making an exception for some of these fine pieces and the prices they can bring in.

Prices for items by well known designers and artists like Vladimir Kagan, George Nakashima, Ponti, and Paul Evans, can bring in amounts of $40,000 to well over $150,000. You might not recognize these names right now, but I hope you will in the future. If you ran across any of these items in a house sale right now, I doubt you would recognize them, and you'd be passing on a find that could make a big difference in your life.

Find out more about our step-by-step for building wealth in the Antique, Art, & Collectible Markets and the 31 Club, here.

Read more about The Million Dollar Challenge 31 Club members are participating in, here.

If you haven't yet had a chance to see what we've got listed in the 31 Gallery & Marketplace, click on over and take a look.
