Fly Fishing in the Yucatan RSS

I recently got back from a fantastic trip to the Yucatan fly fishing for bonefish, tarpon, and permit.  We were down in the southern part of the Yucatan peninsula, almost to Belize.  We stayed at Casa Blanca Lodge which is listed in Fly Fisherman Magazine as a 'Best Bonefish Bet' (where you can see a map of where we were).  The lodge was in the Sian Ka'an Biosphere, which is a huge preserve in Mexico.  It is 1.3 million acres and home to hundreds of mammal and bird species and dozens of Mayan ruins.  Our lodge was on a point, the food and accommodations were stellar.  The fishing was great and the catching was pretty good.  The trip was put together by my buddy Joey Lin of Far Out Fishing Trips.  He has a blog that has some great fish pictures and stories.  All the fish were released all the smarter and wiser for being caught...

This sounds amazing!  Did you get to go to the Mayan ruins - or stay mostly in the water?
