iTaggit is proud to welcome producer/director/collector Dwight Adair as an entertainment expert. Dwight worked in film and TV for many years in Los Angeles, and now lives in Texas.
In addition to the many feature films, traditional television broadcast, music videos, and Internet productions Dwight has been part of, he is an avid collector of pop, rock, blues, swing, and jazz records – 33s, 45s, and Hawaiian 45s.
Dwight began his career as a dialogue coach on the feature films “Urban Cowboy,” “Hard Country,” and more recently, the Academy Award nominated, “A River Runs Through It.” Dwight coached Henry Fonda, John Lithgow, Tim Hutton, Sally Field, William Hurt, Ned Beatty, Pearl Bailey and others in several NBC Live Theatre Specials.
After working on the “Dallas” television series for six seasons, Dwight became a member of the Directors Guild of America. He directed over a dozen hours of prime time television, including episodes of “Dallas” and “Dynasty.” Dwight produced the NBC movie of the week “She Fought Alone” in 1995.
He chaired the Entertainment Industry Task Force of the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce from 1994 to 1996 and served as a Director on its board from 2002 to 2004. In 2000, he joined a delegation of motion picture professionals on a trip to China, where he delivered the keynote address for “Legends of China,” designed to foster relations with their industry.
In the last three sessions of the Texas Legislature, Mr. Adair was instrumental in the passage and subsequent amending of the Texas Film Development Act, a state guaranteed loan program for qualified producers.
Mr. Adair was president of Granite House Inc., a successful production company headquartered in Austin 1994-2002. While there Mr. Adair produced the Home and Garden TV series “Dream House,” a 13-episode documentary series that aired through January, 2002.
He has been interviewed twice by the editor of flixusa.com about directing and producing filmed entertainment, and on two separate occasions by senior analysts at the Wall Street Reporter.com about corporate-sponsored convergence entertainment.
He has produced and/or directed numerous television commercials, corporate videos, DVDs, documentaries, public media presentations, and live television broadcasts. He is a media consultant and possesses more than 30 years of personal experience in the motion picture, video, and television industries.
Dwight produced a documentary about Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys in 2004 entitled “Faded Love” that was screened at SXSW in 2005 and is currently negotiating with CBS Sports a national broadcast of a television special on female athletes, entitled “Go For It!
He graduated from the nationally-acclaimed Leadership Austin program and serves on the Board of Advisors for the St. Edward’s University MBA Program focused on Digital Media. He is also an adjunct professor at the university.
