Let the iTaggit community help you find the value of your things by uploading your item's picture and description into your iTaggit account and add it to the "Community Valuation" collection. User carejaysells posted a blog with some helpful tips on finding the value of your item.

Thanks to user carejaysells for this great blog posting:

 Big Smile     Hello Everyone!

I know that everyone is excited when they add to the public collections not only things that they want to share, but especialy items that they are searching for information and appraisals for, and there are many of us that can and would like to be of help!

The only problem that I have seen quite frequently is that, in order to give an accurate appraisal and information, it requires the same from you-accurate information!  So when you list your items, especially on glass, porcelain, ceramics, china, or a lot of other items, we need the following information from you in order to assist you!  This includes:

  1. More than one picture, preferably one from each angle of the piece, so we can get a "full showing".
  2. Especially important is the maker's mark, signature, etc, not only described in FULL DETAIL (color of print, description of emblems, and the exact wording etc)
  3. The measurements sometime warrant a proper evaluation as some makers produce different sizes of the same piece
  4. Please note any hard-to-see details, and especially imperfections, damage, as this will affect the value of your piece
  5. Any documents accompanying (even hand-written family letters concerning the piece, as this will denote provenance, which will raise the value to some collectors of certain collectors)
  6. Place of purchase (ie flea mkt, antiques store, gift shop, etc) which, at times, can verify authenticity and possibly rule out fakes and reproductions
  7. Date of purchase and price (if known and revelant)

Remember, we want to help you as much as we possibly can, but its up to you to provide all necessary information in order for us to do this!  Elsewhere, there would be fees and expenses, whereas here, you get this service for free!  So please help us out here!

And if any others can list any other requirements, please feel free to add to this list!

Thank you for your time and have a nice day!

Is there anyone that can appraise my collection of action figures so that I can donate it to Camp Good Days? The organization runs a camp for children suffering with cancer or recovering from cancer. Camp Good Days cannot accept the donation until it is professionally appraised. I have already listed the items in a spreadsheet and need the value column filled in. Thank you.

I think you are going to find that there will be almost no one qualified to provide an appraisal who will do it for free. There are already a number of sites of this type on the internet that have hundreds of people looking for an appraisal with very little response on the answer/appraisal side.

I've moderated a couple of antique forums which ended up hiring Appraisers because everyone wanted a free appraisal, but very, very few had anything to add to the discussion except " I've got one of those too, how much is it worth?" ;~)

There are many times that a rather common looking item can be worth far more

than a virtually identical piece, and only a specialist will spot it. For example, there are some Royal Doulton  "Mini" Toby's made as late as 1967 that sell for in excess of $2000.00, while the vast majority made the same year sell for under $50.00.

So in closing, all I can say is a free appraisal is worth every cent ;~) Spend a few bucks and get a legitimate appraisal by a professional.
