Congratulations to squarecircle118 for being this week’s iTaggit Member of the Week!

Squarecircle118 resides in Kuala Lumpur, Malasia, and has been a member of iTaggit since 2007. He collects beautiful Asian Antiques and Archaic Chinese Jades and focuses on “conserving the PAST for appreciation and evaluation in the PRESENT, for enhancement and as unbroken heritage for the FUTURE.” CLICK HERE to check out squarecircle118’s jaw-dropping collections!

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

Where are you from and what are you interested in outside of collecting?
I'm a Malaysian Chinese from Malaysia, a wonderful; multiracial country in South East Asia just north of Singapore.....come visit. Besides collecting Antiques, my other major interest is Taijiquan, an ancient Chinese Internal Martial Arts where the emphasis is Internal energy movement rather than muscular movement.

How long have you been collecting Asian Antiques and Antique Jade? Why do you collect Asian Antiques and Antique Jade?
Asian Antiques, especially Jade (Nephrite), is my specialty and I been collecting for decades....must be in the genes of the Chinese - this affection and veneration for this Stone of Heaven (Jade)...even though I had the opportunity to collect antique porcelain and paintings.

Do you have any other collections not posted on iTaggit.com?
Incidentally, I probably only posted less than half of my Jade Collection on iTaggit.I am too lazy and also have a good collection of Tang Dynasty Gold/Gold gilted items.... not to mention the thousands of COMICS that my brother and I have collected in our teens in the sixties (i.e. the single number issues onward of the main Marvel, DC, King Features characters eg. Spiderman ,Fantastic Four, Daredevil, Superman, Batman, Green Lantern,Tarzan, Sgt. Rock, etc.)

What is your favorite item that you have posted on iTaggit?
I am hard pressed to name one favorite, but will if I have to, it would be the Female Humanoid of the Hongshan Culture with the distinction diffusion line separating the front from back...It reminds me of the INTEL alien use in their advertisement and the Dropa Stones aliens that supposedly crashed landed in China 12000 years ago.

Why did you choose iTaggit to manage your collection and what is your favorite feature on the site?
I have been a member of iTaggit since 2007 and really appreciate the website so much that I completely neglected my own website. It is very difficult to name only one feature, but the major benefit is that iTaggit makes it possible for me to have a classy, sophisicated VIRTUAL MUSEUM that can be assessed/transported in/to any part of the modern world. Features like multiple images, privacy/public options, selective arrangement;to group similar items newly added, and the tremendous support from iTaggit have all contributed to make iTaggit the BEST. Also if/when I want to sell, the links to eBay and other similar selling alternatives is a tremendous plus.

What other websites do you frequent and why?
Besides iTaggit, I also browse eBay, Sotheby, Chinese antique websites, Friends of Jade, and also YouTube videos on antiques and world ancient civilizations and cultures.

If you had one piece of advice to share with other collectors and iTaggit members, what would it be?
Finally the characteristic I emphasize on, besides passion, is to develop the eye to be able to spot unpolished diamonds.....i.e. to see value and quality in something before others are able to recognize it. This I can apply to antiques, people, business opportunities, relationships and life values.
