Welcome!
June was a good month to invest in
quality memorabilia. The NBA had two storied franchises reach the
finals, as the Boston Celtics beat the LA Lakers for their record
17th championship. Game worn jerseys appear to be the big
sellers from this series. In addition, Tiger Woods won one of the most
memorable US Open's in history. So memorable that someone sold an
apple core on eBay (for $36,000) that Woods allegedly tossed during the tournament!
If you missed out on the memorabilia in
June, don't worry, we have got you covered. The best event to get
MLB memorabilia this month will be held at Yankee Stadium. Not only
is this the last season at Yankee Stadium, but on July 14th,
the Home Run Derby comes to town. If you don't catch a ball that
night, try and get to the 79th All-Star game which will be
held on the following night.

NBA Sells Finals Memorabilia
The NBA recently held two live auctions
to sell memorabilia from the 2008 Finals. The first auction included
game worn jerseys from Game 1. The highest priced item in this
auction was Kevin Garnett's home white Jersey. After 113 bids for
the jersey, it sold for a whopping $31,070. Kobe Bryant's road
purple jersey received the highest bid of any Laker, with a winning
bid of $19,040. The auction brought in a total of $112,516.77, with
the Celtics jersey's generating $79,398.10 of that.
The second auction included memorabilia
from Game 3 of the finals. Kobe Bryant was the victor on this night,
as his gold home jersey had a winning bid of $25,020. Garnett's
green away jersey sold for $20,070, and Finals MVP, Paul Pierce's
green away jersey brought in $16,120. This auction brought in a total
of $114,024.79 making the combined total from both auctions,
$226,540. The Celtic's again beat out the Laker's in auction 2,
as $70,867.10 of the total proceeds was generated from their jerseys.
WEEI radio, a Boston based sports
broadcast, auctioned off Doc Rivers' orange Gatorade, soaked shirt
from Game 6. The shirt was signed by both Rivers' and Paul Pierce,
and would also include the Gatorade bucket. The station announced
that the proceeds from this item would benefit the Shamrock
Foundation, a Celtic's charity. The winning bid on this item was
for $55,000.
